(Montreal, Canada. – January 7 , 2015) Audiokinetic Inc., the leading global provider of cross-platform audio solutions for the interactive media and gaming industries, has partnered with CRAS (The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences) that is widely viewed as the nation’s leading audio recording school, to develop an online certification program for Wwise®, the most advanced interactive sound engine for games.
Developed in conjunction with the CRAS, the program is targeted at audio creators looking to enhance their understanding of the Wwise audio middleware as well as instructors and institutions who are looking to expand or formalize their curriculum when teaching Wwise to their students.
“Education has always been important to us, and we’re really pleased to work with CRAS on designing a certification program that teaches Wwise users how to get the most out of our tools in a simple format” said Simon Ashby, VP, Products at Audiokinetic. “CRAS has been teaching Wwise as part of their curriculum for years, and it’s great to bring that expertise to students and professionals all over the world.”
Audiokinetic worked closely with CRAS to design a certification course that empowers audio creators to learn about the power, flexibility and creative ways in which the industry standard Wwise audio middleware can be used to create and manage sounds into the most successful titles in video games. Through self-paced, hands-on, step-by-step instructions, certification seekers will use Wwise running on a Windows or Mac computer to build their own sonic world into an actual game.
“Audiokinetic’s Wwise audio middleware is a really great product that allows users to integrate and manage sound for video games,” said Kirt Hamm, Administrator at CRAS. “Our graduates have gone on to successful careers and won awards in audio within the game industry using Wwise, so we were thrilled when Audiokinetic asked us to create their certification program that would be available online. Our instructors did a great job translating our normal hands-on in the classroom training into a hands-on online format that has received excellent response from users.”
The Wwise Certification Program will initially include both an Online Certification Program 101, as well as the Wwise Certified Instructor Program, targeted at teachers and educational institutions.
