Audiokinetic announces Indie-focused Limited Commercial License

Wwise becomes free for small independent titles!

Montréal, Canada – March 11, 2014 – Audiokinetic Inc., the leading global provider of cross-platform audio solutions for the interactive media and gaming industries, today announced the release of a free limited commercial license on PC and mobile-based platforms.

With this Limited Commercial License, Wwise becomes free to use for titles using fewer than 200 sound files in their Wwise project and that are targeted for release on Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8 platforms.

“We know that there are thousands of small teams working hard out there on small game titles. Some are essentially unfunded, some fund through their savings, or through investors and some fund through crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter. We want them all to have the opportunity to use the best tools available to them, and for audio, that means Wwise,” says Martin H. Klein President and CEO of Audiokinetic.

With the launch of the new Audiokinetic website (www.audiokinetic.com), the program is now live.

“We’ve been discussing this program with hundreds of indie teams over the last few months, and the response has been overwhelmingly good. After consulting with them, we opted to tie this free license to the project’s aural complexity, rather than a more static metric like budget,“ says Mike Drummelsmith, Senior Sales Representative. “The signup process is easy, and all we really ask is that they let us know when they ship, so that we can showcase their game!”

If you are an existing Audiokinetic customer, or are targeting an indie game towards console release, please contact info@audiokinetic.com for more information.
