Combining Sequential and Layered Structures

For the Combat music you now have two Music Segments, each of which uses a lot of layered randomization. You’ll now sequence those segments into a simple sequential structure so that the A section plays first, followed by the B section, and then the process is repeated indefinitely.

  1. Select the Combat Music Playlist Container.

Currently, the Combat Music Playlist Container only contains the Combat-A Music Segment.

  2. Drag the Combat-B Music Segment from the Project Explorer to just below the Combat-A Music Segment in the Music Playlist Editor.

That was easy! Now take a listen to the amount of variation derived from this configuration.

  3. Play the Combat Music Playlist Container object and listen to the variation as the parts transition between the A and B segments.

Now you can hear how the instrumentation typically changes halfway through the 16 bar loop, providing a lot of variety to the main part of the Combat music. You could listen to the loop repeat dozens of times and you most likely won’t ever hear it play the same way twice.
