Sequence Step Music Tracks

In some cases you may want a bit more control over the order in which Sub-Tracks play. Instead of randomly selecting a track, Sequence Step Music Tracks make it possible to pre-define an order in which its Sub-Tracks play. You’ll use this approach with the guitar tracks. There were three different versions, labeled Gtr1, Gtr2, and Gtr3, each one getting progressively more intense. You’ll configure them to first play an empty Sub-Track followed by the three guitar tracks in numeric order.

  1. Zoom in on the Combat-A-Gtr1 Random Step Music Track, right-click the track header and choose Sequence Step.

You see that the Sub-Track color is green, indicating that the Sub-Tracks within this set will play in sequence.

  2. Select and drag all of the clips from the top three Sub-Tracks to the bottom three Sub-Tracks so that the empty Sub-Track is on top.

  3. Play the Combat Music Switch Container and notice how the guitar tracks start with no sound and progressively get more intense before repeating the pattern after four loops.

Now the guitar always repeats the same pattern of intensity, regardless of how the other tracks are randomly played.

[Note]

There is a another type of Music Track capable of using Sub-Tracks called a Switch Music Track. This type of Music Track works in conjunction with Switch Groups. Switch Music Tracks will be discussed in Lesson 5 where you’ll learn about interactivity with game play.
