Mapping the Sidechain RTPC to the Target Bus

Now you’re ready to attach the RTPC to the Volume property of the Wwise 201 Music Audio Bus.

  1. Double-click the 201 Main Audio Bus and choose the RTPC tab.

  2. Click the [>>] selector button and choose Bus Volume. Click the selector button for the X Axis and choose Game Parameters > Music > Stinger_Sidechain.

You want the volume of the 201 Main Audio Bus to get gradually lower as the Stinger_Sidechain value that represents the volume of the Stinger bus increases.

  3. Drag the curve to match the image.

    Now test your work.

  4. Play the music and initiate some of the Stingers.

The current attenuation can reduce the volume on the 201 Main Audio Bus by as much as 200 dB, meaning those sounds can cut out completely. Something a bit more subtle would be suitable.

  5. Adjust the curve to reflect a maximum attenuation of approximately 15 dB.

Now you're ready to build the final version of the game.

  6. Generate the SoundBanks and play Cube!

Congratulations! You've completed the music integration for the Wwise 201 level within the Cube game. You've no doubt learned a lot about both the conceptual approach to music integration within video games, as well as the technical features within Wwise that allow you to achieve a truly dynamic and interactive music score. Using these ideas and this new knowledge, you're now equipped to bring your own music into a video game using Wwise!
