Audiokinetic Collaborates with Sony on VISION-S Prototype to Enhance Automotive Sound Design
Montreal, Canada – June 22nd, 2021 – Audiokinetic Inc. A Sony Group Company, the leading provider of cross-platform interactive audio solutions, brings its Wwise Automotive™ audio technology to VISION-S, by Sony Group Corporation (hereafter, “Sony”).
VISION-S, Sony’s new initiative in contribution to the evolution of mobility by advancing safety, security, and in-car entertainment, utilizes Sony technologies and creativity. Amongst three key pillars of safety, entertainment and adaptability, revolutionary in-car entertainment experiences have been explored by Sony's technologies such as "360 Reality Audio". This provides an immersive music experience through speakers built into each seat to encapsulate passengers in sound, and Audiokinetic participated in such enhancement using its technology, Wwise.
Wwise Automotive provided innovative interactive sound generation and an advanced audio management solution to empower entertainment experience. Wwise runtime lies at the heart of the infotainment platform, extending the system with powerful new capabilities enabling advanced audio features for a truly immersive and interactive user experience.
“Offering a game-changing audio workflow, Wwise Automotive can power the most advanced automotive use cases with minimal engineering efforts, enabling very fast design iterations,” says Francois Thibault, Sr. Director of Innovation at Audiokinetic. “We are very excited to contribute to VISION-S Prototype with our audio solution. Sony’s challenge on the user experience for future electric cars makes this project a perfect fit for Wwise Automotive.”
Wwise Automotive strives to add new capabilities for in-car interactive audio by streamlining the workflow related to creating, managing and customizing the sound design, unifying the overall user-experience, and providing end-users with innovative audio features for entertainment systems and safety applications (e.g., ADAS). Empowering car manufacturers and suppliers to be in full control of the audio experience, without spending long development cycles on technology integration and software development, the Wwise Automotive solution is a powerful tool for iterating quickly and tuning designs in context during vehicle development.
“Audiokinetic has been tailoring its audio technology expertise and solutions for some time now to meet the needs of various industries evolving with interactivity, connectivity and mobility. Being a part of the VISION-S mobility ecosystem presents several exciting endeavors in alignment with our diversification goals, and we are very proud to be working together with our parent company Sony on VISION-S,” said Martin H. Klein, Audiokinetic CEO. “Our solution for the automotive industry Wwise Automotive is well demonstrated through the VISION-S Prototype vehicle, a project that has challenged us as we enhance automotive sound design, and pushed us to deliver cutting edge technology that meets requirements and demands for safety and enhanced user experience in connected and autonomous vehicles.”
