Paste Properties

Through the Paste Properties view, you can copy various properties from an object to one or more other objects. For example, you might need to manage a large collection objects of the same type and want to ensure that many or all of the objects have the same settings, or that they use the same list of RTPCs. The Paste Properties view provides an efficient way to manage this type of data across objects.

Interface Element

Description

Copy from Object

Contains the source object whose properties will be copied and pasted to one or more target objects. To select a source object, you can drag an object to this selection box from the Project Explorer or use the buttons to the right (Follow Clipboard, Browse for Source Objects, and Select a Recent Paste).

Paste to Object(s)

Contains one or more target objects. You can drag objects here from the Project Explorer or use the Follow Selection button to the right.

When selected, sets any object copied to the clipboard as the source object.

When selected, sets any object or objects you click in the Project Explorer as the target object.

Opens the Project Explorer Browser, from which you can select a source object.

Opens a list of the 15 most recent paste operations. You can select one of them to view the source and target objects, the Property Filter button state, the Paste Mode that was used, and which check boxes were selected or cleared.

Turns the Property Filter on or off. When selected, the two object comparison panes only display objects that will change if you click Paste.

Opens a search field where standard alphanumeric entries filter out unmatching elements from the view. Learn more in Using Tables.

Click the Close icon to the left of the search icon to close the search field and remove the filter.

	Note
	The searches do not include elements in collapsed nodes of the List View, Query Editor, MIDI Keymap Editor, and Reference View.

Properties

Displays the object properties within their corresponding hierarchies. As with other hierarchical views, you can expand and collapse parents to show or hide child elements. If the Property Filter is enabled, only Properties with values that differ from the corresponding values in the target objects are visible. RTPC and State icons are not displayed.

Source Value

Displays the value of the Property in the source object. All values are read-only.

Target Value(s)

Displays the value of the Property in the target object. If there are multiple target objects with different values, a dash is displayed. If no target supports the Property and the Property Filter is disabled, the value is blank. All values are read-only.

Objs Changed on Paste

Displays the number of target objects that will change when you click Paste. If there are multiple target objects, you can right-click the number and then click Show Changed in List View for a list of the affected objects. If no target supports the Property and the Property Filter is disabled, nothing is displayed.

Indicates that the list of properties is only partially visible, and that only the properties in the source that have different values from those in the target are displayed. These arrows are only visible if the Property Filter is turned on. To view the full list of properties, you can click an arrow to display the full list of properties in that section, at which point the icon becomes a regular gray expansion arrow. Alternatively, you can turn off the Property Filter to view all properties in all sections.

Paste Mode

Determines how the target objects are affected when you paste List Elements to them. There are three options:

Replace Entire List. Completely removes the target object List Elements and copies the selected List Elements from the source to the targets.
Add New, Replace Existing. Pastes all List Elements from the source to the targets and replaces any List Elements that are already present in the targets, but does not remove any extra List Elements from the targets.
Add New, Keep Existing. Pastes any List Elements that exist in the source and not the targets, but does not replace or remove any List Elements that exist in the targets already.

List Element

Displays the List Elements that will be copied from the source to the target objects. There are four possible Lists:

Metadata
RTPCs
Stingers
Music Cues

Objs with Added

Displays the number of target objects that will receive new list elements when you click Paste. If there are multiple target objects, you can right-click the number and then click Show Changed in List View for a list of the affected objects.

Objs with Replaced

Displays the number of target objects that contain list elements that will be replaced when you click Paste. If there are multiple target objects, you can right-click the number and then click Show Changed in List View for a list of the affected objects.

Objs with Removed

Displays the number of target objects that contain list elements that will be removed when you click Paste. If there are multiple target objects, you can right-click the number and then click Show Changed in List View for a list of the affected objects.

Selects all check boxes in both the Properties and List Elements areas.

Clears all check boxes in both the Properties and List Elements areas.

Pastes Properties and List Elements from the source to the targets.
