Working with Offline Installers

For both Wwise and Wwise integrations for Unity and Unreal, the Launcher needs an Internet connection to download and install files. However, there are times when offline installation might be preferable: an offline installer ensures that all developers or designers have the same Wwise version and setup options, and you can use the installer even if you don't have a stable Internet connection. Therefore, you can use the Launcher to download offline installers that you can run without an Internet connection.

To create an offline installer:

  1. In the Audiokinetic Launcher, select the Wwise page.

  2. In the INSTALL NEW VERSION section, select the version that you want to install from the versions list.

  3. Click Create offline installer.

The offline installer page opens. It lists the same packages and deployment platforms that are available in the regular installer as described in Installing Wwise and Component Packages. However, the button at the bottom of the page is Create instead of Install.

  4. Type or browse to the desired Target Directory, which is where you want to save the offline installer.

    [Tip] Tip

Make a note of the Target Directory location. You will need it to locate and run the offline installer.

  5. Follow the steps in Install Wwise through the Launcher, but click Create instead of Install in the final step.

    The offline installer is created.

To install using an offline installer:

  1. Browse to the Target Directory location specified in the previous procedure.

It contains a WwiseLauncher.exe file and a bundle folder.

  2. Open the directory and run the WwiseLauncher.exe file.

A Audiokinetic Launcher offline installer runs and opens to the Offline Installation page, which is almost identical to the standard installation page. It contains a predefined list of Packages and Deployment Platforms, based on the selections made during the creation of the offline installer. You can clear any selected Packages or Deployment Platforms that were not previously installed, but cannot add or enable those that are not part of the offline installer.

  3. Click Install.

    [Note] Note

If you are running an offline installer for a version that is already installed, there is a Modify button instead of an Install button. The modification applies only when the offline installer includes packages or deployment platforms that were not previously installed for this version.

Wait until the installation is complete.

To install using an offline installer within the Launcher:

  1. In the Audiokinetic Launcher, select the Wwise page.

  2. From the VERSIONS INSTALLED main menu, select Start offline installer.

  3. Browse to the directory that contains the desired offline installer.

  4. Open the directory and select the bundle folder.

  5. Click Select Folder.

The standard installation page appears with a predefined list of Packages and Deployment Platforms. You can clear any selected Packages or Deployment Platforms that were not previously installed, but cannot add or enable any that are not part of the offline installer.

  6. Click Install. Wwise and all other selected components are installed.

    [Note] Note

If you are running an offline installer for a version that is already installed, there is a Modify button instead of an Install button. The modification applies only when the offline installer includes packages or deployment platforms that were not previously installed for the selected version.
