Human Movement Collection Guide

This collection provides a plethora of sounds a human character makes moving in a broad range of clothing, equipped with various accessories, armor, and gear. Armor sounds are provided in steel, chainmail, plate, and leather, while a range of fabrics, from lightweight to heavily equipped, are provided for modern soldiers. The subprojects are structured to facilitate the rendering of multiple layers for multiple pieces of armor, allowing for custom character design, armor upgrades, and ever-growing backpacks.

Each type of clothing has a similar set of movements, such as grabs, impacts, bodyfalls, and steps. There is a blend between close and distant recordings for customization of the sounds to the perspective they will commonly be heard from, whether intimate first-person, third-person, or distant NPC.

The complete list of all subprojects and their associated data and embedded metadata is available in the accompanying Human Movement SoundBook.

This guide provides information specific to this collection. For general information that applies to all Strata collections, refer to the Strata User Guide.

The Main Project

The main Human Movement project provides a convenient way to visualize, locate, and audition the sounds in the Human Movement collection. Additionally, it is a central point from which you can open the individual subprojects of the collection. The main project contains tracks for each subproject of the collection, with media items that reference the various subprojects in nested tracks. You can audition any of the media items that reference the rendered output from the corresponding subprojects.

In the main project, you can double-click any subproject media item to open the corresponding subproject, in which all of the tracks and layers available for the specific movements are arranged.

Use the Region/Marker Manager to find and jump to the different subproject tracks. For more information, refer to Regions and Markers in the Strata User Guide.
