Physics Destruction Collection Guide

The Physics Destruction collection is an extension of the Physics collection. This collection brings a complementary level of detail not covered in the Physics collection. The destruction crash sounds are designed to be used as an addition to physics object behaviors as they collide. The materials of the crashes include: metal, wood, rock, glass, ice, and other designed composite materials. There is a subproject dedicated to stress and bending of objects. This includes the same sizes and materials as the crashes. All of these sounds dramatically enhance the Physics collection sounds, bringing realistic and nuanced detail to the destruction aspect of every type of collision.

The complete list of all subprojects and their associated data and embedded metadata is available in the accompanying Physics Destruction SoundBook.

[Note]Note

This guide provides information specific to this collection. For general information that applies to all Strata collections, refer to the Strata User Guide.

The Main Project

The main project provides a convenient way to visualize, locate, and audition the sounds in the Physics Destruction collection. Additionally, it is a central point from which you can open the individual subprojects of the collection. The main project contains tracks for each subproject of the collection, with media items that reference the various subprojects in nested tracks. You can audition any of the media items that reference the rendered output from the corresponding subprojects.

In the main project, you can double-click any subproject media item to open the corresponding subproject, in which all of the tracks and layers available for the specific movement are arranged.

Use the Region/Marker Manager to find and jump to the different subproject tracks. For more information, refer to Regions and Markers in the Strata User Guide.

A subproject media item. Double-click it to open the subproject in a new tab.

A media item that references the rendered output of the subproject. Place the cursor at any point on the timeline and click Play to audition the rendered output.

Physics Subprojects

The Physics Destruction collection contains the following subprojects:

  • Crash

  • Stress

Tracks, Layers, and Regions

Physics tracks, layers, and regions use the standard Strata colors and hierarchy. The main project and subproject track layout is similar to all projects across the Strata collections.

For more information on custom Strata colors, refer to Track Names and Colors in the Strata User Guide.
