Voice Monitor

The Voice Monitor view displays the volume of the voices playing in time when capturing with the profiler. You can set the scope of the view on a specific bus, or for all voices currently playing. The voices shown in the list are the voices playing at a specific time, shown by the time cursor.

Interface Element

Description

All voices

This voice mode shows all voices playing in time. The volume shown is the final voice volume.

Bus input

This voice mode shows all voices playing into a bus. The volume shown is that calculated before HDR attenuation, in the context of the bus.

When selecting this mode, the bus needs to be specified.

Bus output

This voice mode shows all voices playing into a bus. The volume shown is volume at which the voice is being mixed when leaving the bus.

When selecting this mode, the bus needs to be specified.

Click the Configure Columns... shortcut (right-click) option from the column header band.

The Configure Columns Dialog opens. Specify which columns to display and their order.

Color

Displays a square filled with either the object’s defined color, or if none is set, a randomly applied color. This key helps identify the object line displayed in the graph view.

Default value: 0
Range: 0 to 26

Wwise Object

The Wwise object name.

Controls the Mute and Solo states for the object and shows the implicit mute and solo states for the object.

Muting an object silences this object for the current monitoring session. Soloing an object silences all the other objects in the project except this one.

A bold M or S indicates that the Mute or Solo state has been explicitly set for the object. A non-bold M or S with faded color indicates that the object's Mute or Solo state was implicitly set from another object's state.

Muting an object implicitly mutes the descendant objects.

Soloing an object implicitly mutes the sibling objects and implicitly solos the descendant and ancestor objects.

[Tip] Tip

Hold the Ctrl key while clicking a solo button to exclusively solo the object for which the solo button is associated.

[Note] Note

Mute and Solo are designed to be used for monitoring purposes only and are not persisted in the project or stored in the SoundBanks.

Volume

The level of the voice as defined in the project's hierarchy, specific to the selected mode:

  • Voice Volume : The column header for the All voices mode.
  • Input Volume: The column header for the Bus input mode.
  • Mix Volume: The column header for the Bus output mode.

To use the Voice Monitor:

  1. Click Start Capture to begin capturing, or connect to game.

  2. Play the sounds.

  3. Open the Voice Monitor view.

  4. Select a voice mode.

To filter the voices:

  1. Use one of the following filters to dynamically update the content of the Voice Monitor table and graph view:

    • Object filter: Click the selector, which prompts the Project Explorer - Browser . Select an object (such as an Event, container, Virtual Folder, Work Unit, sound, or Music Segment) to show the output from it and all its descendants. Select a bus to show all objects routed to this bus or the descendants of the bus.

    • Text filter: Enter text to filter to objects with matching substrings in their names.

See Overview to learn more about working with the graph view and Chapter 44, Getting to Know the Timeline to learn more about the timeline.
