Building the plug-in

Preprocessor Defines

The following preprocessor defines are introduced to control the integration features:

  • AK_USE_UNREAL_IO
    Located in …\Plugins\Wwise\Source\AkAudio\AkAudio.Build.cs.
This setting, which is enabled by default, causes all IO requests from the Wwise sound engine to be routed in the Unreal IO system. When not enabled, the standard Wwise low-level I/O is used.
  • AK_SOUNDFRAME
    Located in …\Plugins\Wwise\Source\AkAudio\AkAudio.Build.cs.
This setting provides basic SoundFrame support to activate Unreal Editor features, such as Radius display, that require communication with the Wwise Authoring Application. Enabled by default, except in the Ship configuration. This option is not available on Mac OS X.

Building the Unreal Wwise plug-in from source

If the installation steps outlined in Installation have been followed correctly, rebuilding the Unreal Wwise plug-in is done the same way as rebuilding the Unreal Engine. For a more detailed description of this process, please consult the Unreal Engine documentation.

For more information on plugins with source code, please refer to the Unreal Engine documentation.
