The Combat control track envelopes provide a convenient way to quickly modify the mix of the layers of the Walla performance. There are matching controls for the male and female layers.
They are placed at the top of the Track View (TCP). There are six envelope tracks: three for the male groups and three for the female groups. They are key to the adjustment of the Combat Walla sounds.
The various envelopes control multiple parameters of Enrage plug-in instances using macros within the Enrage plug-in presets. The dynamic mixing of the volume of all the Track Layers is accomplished with plug-in instances.
The envelope controls the relative balance between the calm and intense groups, fading in or out tracks within group layers. The track has values between 0 (fully calm) and 16383 (fully intense). The mixing is mostly achieved within instances of Enrage, where macros are controlled that effect the values of multiple FX parameters with the Enrage preset. The envelope can be automated and dynamically change the intensity levels over time.
The envelope controls multiple tracks within multiple layers, acting on Enrage FX instance presets via a macro named Distance, which control various FX parameters simultaneously. The result is a realistic impression of distance from the performance with a combination of volume, equalization, and compression techniques. With the Enrage macros, it's possible to scale the amount by which each effect parameter is modified relative to the 0-100 value of the macro. This allows fine individual control of multiple parameters across multiple instances of the Enrage FX simultaneously.
The envelope controls the number of actively audible tracks in a group, from a small 5-member group to a Huge Group of over 1800 members. It works in parallel with the intensity control tracks by controlling macros named Size within Enrage FX presets on multiple tracks simultaneously. With the Enrage macros controlled in this fashion, it's possible to scale the amount by which each effect parameter is modified relative to the 0-100 value of the macro. This allows fine individual control of multiple parameters across multiple instances of the Enrage FX simultaneously.
Enrage plug-in instances are used extensively to control the volume and other parameters on layer tracks. In the following image, an Enrage instance is inserted on a calm layer track. The Size Male control envelope controls the Enrage Size macro modulating the input using its specified envelope.
In the following image, you can see the plug-in is also controlled by the control track Intensity Male envelope modulating the Enrage Density macro, which controls the Gain also using a custom envelope.
Hundreds of instances of Enrage are controlled using one of the six crowd control envelopes, with different settings for each instance of the plug-in. Adjusting the crowd control envelopes produces seamless transitions of the crowd characteristics, even when the individual actions on a plug-in instance might be quite dramatic.
