Physics Collection Guide

The Physics collection includes the sounds of collisions and friction between a wide array of objects and surfaces. Each object and surface has corresponding size subprojects: large, medium, and small. Within each subproject are regions corresponding to variations of impacts and impact sweeteners scaled as light, medium, and hard. Destructions are the complete obliteration of an object. Scrapes and bends are also included and have looping components scaled as slow, medium, and fast.

The complete list of all subprojects, their associated data, and embedded metadata is available in the accompanying Physics SoundBook.

[Note]Note

This guide provides information specific to this collection. For general information that applies to all Strata collections, refer to the Strata User Guide.

The Main Project

The main Physics project provides a convenient way to visualize, locate, and audition the sounds in the Physics collection. Additionally, it is a central point from which you can open the individual subprojects of the collection. The main project contains tracks for each subproject of the collection, with media items that reference the various subprojects in nested tracks. You can audition any of the media items that reference the rendered output from the corresponding subprojects.

In the main project, you can double-click any subproject media item to open the corresponding subproject, in which all of the tracks and layers available for the specific object or surface are arranged.

Use the Region/Marker Manager to find and jump to the different subproject tracks. For more information, refer to Regions and Markers in the Strata User Guide.

Tracks, Layers, and Regions

Physics tracks, layers, and regions use the standard Strata colors and hierarchy. The main project and subproject track layout is similar to all projects across the Strata collections.

For more information on custom Strata colors, refer to Track Names and Colors in the Strata User Guide.
