Ambience Nature Continental Divide Southwest Collection Guide

This collection includes a series of recordings of the area in the United States that runs north-south, dividing east and west. This continental divide spans a huge range of elevation, resulting in a unique and diverse range of environments. The recordings traverse deserts, prairies, canyons, forests, and mountains, mostly in sparsely populated areas free from industrial noise pollution.

The collection has a range of Area subprojects. These subprojects are mixed using higher order ambisonics with assets recorded in first-order ambisonics. They are set up to render in a variety of common multichannel formats according to your multichannel requirements. This can range from binaural to 7.0.4 configurations and multiple orders of ambisonic in AmbiX that allow 360 degrees of listening immersion. The projects are configured to render as seamless loops, and they have control tracks for rapid customization. In addition to the Area subprojects set up for ambisonic mixing, there are also Animals and Birds subprojects configured for stereo rendering for use as point source objects to populate your world.

To optimize download size, a Stereo render is included in the collection download, which you can audition in the Ambience Nature Continental Divide Southwest.rpp.

The subprojects are arranged to enable auditioning, depending on your monitor systems, and rendering in a comprehensive range of formats. By default, they are configured to monitor in Stereo. The environmental object subprojects are similar to conventional Stereo projects and are configured to monitor and render in Stereo. The collection is designed so that the Area subprojects provide the base layer of an ambience, with sounds from the Animals and Birds subprojects used simultaneously as required for specific augmentation.

The subprojects have Parameter Control tracks that affect multiple tracks and the plug-ins to enable customization of the ambiences, with a range of intuitive names to describe their effects on the mix.

The complete list of all the subprojects and their associated data and embedded metadata is available in the accompanying Ambience Nature Continental Divide Southwest SoundBook.
