Is there a way to use virtual instruments in WWise?

hello,

I'm working on a game that is very music based, and I'm considering Wwise, because of how in depth the music system is. However, I am not too familiar with it, and I haven't had a chance to dig too deep. My biggest question is whether or not Wwise supports virtual instruments in the software itself, because it would be very beneficial if we were able to alter sound as it was generated. If I am way off base, a point in the right direction would be just as useful. Thanks!

Hi Bradley,

At the moment, there are no commercial virtual instruments available with Wwise. That said, starting with Wwise 2014.1, it's possible to build your own virtual instrument at the Actor-Mixer Hierarchy level triggered by MIDI clips integrated into music segments in the Interactive Music Hierarchy. In the official release of 2014.1, there will be an example of an interactive music score using a mix of rendered audio and MIDI clips targetting custom made virtual instruments and Wwise Synth One.

Hope this helps,
