Is there an API for getting audio samples, available for plug-in development?

I know there is already Wwise recorder, but there are some limitations and I don't find the source code of it.  What I want to do is to develop an own Wwise recording plugin. Is there an API for getting audio samples transferable?

We wrote our own recording plugin for this reason. You get all the data in an effect plugin, then you can do whatever you need.
