[Unity] No sound on communication device

0 votes

Hello everyone,

We're having trouble using the "communication" device with Unity on PC.

First off, we're using Wwise 2017.2.5.6619 with Unity 2018.1.3f1.

Our game is a local multiplayer game (sort of) in which one player uses a headset to listen to sounds that other players can't hear. With that intent, we routed those sounds to the "communication" device, as described here : https://www.audiokinetic.com/library/edge/?source=SDK&id=default__audio__devices.html

Everything works fine in the Wwise authoring tool, those sounds play in the headset while the rest play on the speakers ("System" audio device).

When playing those sounds within our Unity project (Editor or Build) though, nothing is played and the profiler displays the following log entry: "Sound could not find a path to an output device, will use virtual setting."

Are we missing something, maybe some settings or code ?

Thanks,

Alain.

This is an old question, but I am also experiencing the same issue in 2022.
Does someone know how to fix this?
