Using Switch Sub-Tracks

Earlier in this tutorial you heavily used Sub-Tracks to choose a single track to play from a pool of possible tracks you had configured. The choice of which track is played has primarily been based on randomized selection, but it’s possible for the game to directly control which Sub-Track will play. This can be accomplished in a similar way to how Switch Groups are used to control which type of footstep sounds are heard based on the surface the character is walking on. In fact, Switch Groups can be used in conjunction with something called Switch Tracks, which are part of the Sub-Track system you used earlier in this tutorial.

[Note]

For the following exercises, an understanding of Switch Groups is important. Refer to the Wwise-101 course Lesson 3 to review information regarding the configuration of Switch Groups.

You’ll configure a Switch Track so that as the Wwizard's health declines, the electric guitar parts will become more intense. In other words, if you’re playing the game and you hear the electric guitar, just know that it’s not something to kick back and listen to… find a health potion!
