Working with Wwise

This section describes the functionality of specific Wwise views to help you get up and running quickly with the software.

  • Getting to Know the Project Explorer—understanding the visual elements, setting display options, and using the Project Explorer toolbar.

  • Getting to Know the Event Viewer—navigating, sorting, filtering, and setting display options.

  • Getting to Know the Property Editor—an overview of each tab, including dynamic mixing techniques using playback limit, distance-based priority, and virtual voice behavior in the Advanced Settings tab.

  • Getting to Know the Contents Editor—an overview for a variety of object types, adding and reordering objects, dragging objects between panes, expanding and collapsing lists, and auditioning objects and sources.

  • Getting to Know the Transport Control—an overview of the Playback Control and Game Sync Areas, playing and pinning an object, setting playback priorities, playing original audio files, including and excluding audio and motion content for playback, and using Game Syncs during playback.

  • Getting to Know the Schematic View—understanding the visual elements, setting display options, and searching for, highlighting, and editing project objects.

  • Getting to Know the Graph View—an overview of the various graphs in Wwise, understanding the common elements, setting display options, zooming and panning, and working with control points and curves.

  • Getting to Know the Timeline—an overview of the various timelines in Wwise, understanding their elements, zooming and panning, and details on working with the Music Segment Editor timeline and the Position Editor timeline.

  • Working with Searches, Queries, and References—searching for elements within your project, finding all project elements that reference a particular object, creating and running a query, creating advanced queries, and using factory-defined queries.

  • Using Presets—saving, loading, and understanding the contents of a Preset.

  • Using a Control Surface—connecting a control surface device to Wwise, creating a Control Surface Session, working with control surface bindings and understanding their targets, understanding control surface View Groups, handling conflicts in control surface sessions, and using the control surface toolbar.
