How does the distance probe interact with an AK reverb volume in Unreal?

i'm trying to figure out some stuff for a third person game where the camera perspective is distant to the player. I want the audio experience to be more akin to the 'ears' being on the player. The distance probe goes a long way towards helping with this, but I am struggling to get reverb to work how I would like. It seems that the AK reverb volume is activated by the position of the listener, not the distance probe. I can't see a way to set or override this, and so far my experiments with creating a custom Blueprint reverb zone have been a bit of a non-starter. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated!
