Hi Wwise Community,

I work in my school's Video Game Scoring department and we're looking to do official version upgrades for the software we use in the curriculum, Wwise included (we're currently running 2021.1.5.7749). After scouring the Wwise version release notes, it looks like the current supported silicon macOS version for Wwise 2021.1.6 & up is Big Sur (11.0). My question is, what is the most trusted Wwise version for a M1 Mac running macOS Monterey (12.0+)? Naturally, versions with known limitations are not an option.

I appreciate any help you can provide!

Best,

Brandon

In general, the trustiest version is the latest minor release of each major version. For Apple Silicon support specifically, the latest minor release of Wwise 2019.2, 2021.1 and 2022.1 currently all use the same solution to run on macOS, which runs on macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) and up.

Updating your 2021.1 release to the latest minor version (2021.1.11 at the moment of this comment) could be the simplest path for your case.

Thank you Samuel! Has your team tested on any M1 Macs running Ventura? We're considering updating past Monterey if Wwise can support it. Wondering what the highest compatible version of Wwise is for Ventura (MacOS 13).
I'm personally on latest and greatest Ventura 13.1 (22C65) on Intel and can confirm it works. On M1 machines, the application runs through the Rosetta 2 emulation layer, so it should work exactly the same on your side on a M1 machine. I've also validated the app opens correctly on a latest and greatest M2 macbook running Ventura.
