Game Maker and Wwise compatibility?

I have messed with Caklassen's plug-in for integrating GMWwise into GameMaker.  However, this is for GameMaker's predecessor and I am interested in exploring the compatibility of GameMaker's newer, free version with recent versions of Wwise.  I am struggling to find resources or even determine if it is possible to integrate Wwise in this scenario.  Does anyone have success stories, insights, or resources they can share?

I am currently troubleshooting the GMWwise plug-in with the free GameMaker engine and if I uncover anything, will respond to this thread.
