We introduced support for Microsoft GameInput almost a year ago in Wwise 2024.1.0. Recent updates to GameInput changed how it behaves, which exposed a bug in the Wwise Motion code. Following an automatic Windows App Gaming Services update or a manual install of Game Input Redistributable, you may experience crashes in Wwise 2024.1.x or in games built with those versions of Wwise.
We have confirmed that the problem occurs when using GameInputRedist.dll version 2.1.26100.6068 or 2.2.26100.6114; we expect the issue could affect other versions of the Redistributable.
The bug in the Wwise Motion code will be fixed for the Wwise 2024.1.9 release on October 21st. We planned to release Wwise 2025.1.2 beta 3 today, including a GameInput Redistributable that would make Wwise 2024.1.x crash. We have delayed this release to remove the GameInput Redistributable from the installation.
