So I joined a work in progress with this team, and they had already added a few sounds without Wwise(just straight into Unity), and I can't get it to play my Wwise sounds and not play the Unity sounds.

You need to remove the code triggering the sounds in Unity. If you do not know how to code, then you will have to ask your teammates to do it for you.

As for Wwise, are your soundbanks loaded? How are you triggering your event? Did you create your Wwise session in the root folder of the Unity project?
I figured it was something like that. Thanks.
