Hi everyone.

I think my title sorta sums it up, but my Wwise launcher won't allow me to download any copies of Wwise.

I installed the launcher and had a copy of 2016.1 Wwise installed but was given an error of a missing file upon trying to load it up. I figured I'd reinstall Wwise. So I deleted that version of Wwise from the launcher figuring I could reinstall it. Instead the Launcher is telling me there are no new versions of Wwise for me to install now.

I uninstalled the launcher to try to start over from scratch but am given the same constant problem.

The only .exe's I can download from Wwise's website are 2015.x versions, when my project is using 2016.

Has anyone experienced this? Or does anyone have a 2016.1 executable I can run through the installer?

Hi Steve, can you:
 - Close the Launcher if running
 - Restart the Launcher
 - Go to the Wwise tab
 - Open folder: %temp%\WwiseLauncher\Log
 - Edit the most recent .log file created
 - Copy and Paste the content in your question
Hey Bernard!

I actually got it figured out thatnks to Sean Lavalle and Carson French.
Was waiting til this question got approved so I could explain what happened and how we solved it.

Essentially I was missing a file titled MSVCR120.dll. I hadnt recognized it as a visual studio file missing so i figured I'd delete wwise from the launcher and reinstall like it suggested doing. It wouldnt allow me to reinstall anything though, leading to my panic.
Sean gave me an offline installer of wwise 2016.1.x. That worked since the launcher was not allowing me to install anything. Upon installing it, i got that same missing file error code. I needed to install a new copy of Visual Studio 2013 and now it's all working fine.

(For context, I'm on vacation and using a laptop i havent opened in 2 years. It's not toally up to date on updates and things and still running windows 7 since i missed the upgrade window.)

Maybe I'm wrong or missing something but it seems weird that the launcher faced such problem with me not having that file.

Hope this helps anyone else who may have this issue. but that's what I did to solve it.
Hey Steve,

Sorry to hear about this issue.  Glad to hear you're able to get around it.

In an effort to avoid such pains for other users and offer the best possible Wwise Launcher experience, could you please provide the information required in Bernard's post?
Hello Steve,

For the Wwise Launcher issue, could you please try sign-out, sign-in?  Does the Launcher now see the available Wwise versions?

  • Shutdown Wwise Launcher
  • Delete the file %appdata%\WwiseLauncher\jwt.txt
