Problem with Ambisonics (file been converted to mono?)

0 votes
Hi! I have some questions and I cannot find the answers on the internet nor the manual, so I decided to write here for some help.

For our project, we need to play 2 ambisonic files (not at the same time. They are 1st order ambisonics. I've tryed AmbiX and FuMa). I followed all the instructions and also tried to copy all the parameters of the ambisonic section of the SampleProject session, but I cannot get wwise to play an ambisonic file properly.

I'm trying to use it inside an Unity project. When I rotate my head tracker (oculus dk2 for example) I can hear a difference in the audio, but it seems to me like Wwise only converts my ambisonic audio file into a mono one, and spatialize it with the help pf the Auro 3D plugin.

For example, when I rotate my head 90 degrees to the left, I loose totally the signal on the right speaker of my headphones, and as I said, it seems only like a mono signal that is been sent to 1 or 2 different speakers depending of the headtracker position.

I hope you can help me. If you have any advise, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks! and have a good day!

In the most recent version (2017) the Spread value of attenuation curves affect ambisonic playback, previously spread was ignored.

Try setting up an attenuation sharset for your ambisonic content that has a spread value of 100% at all distances.

The other thing I've seen that can cause this behaviour is the compressed file type not supporting ambisonics. If that is the case you should see an error message when you build the banks.

That was exactly the problem (spread parameter). Thank you so much!
I was also struggling with this issue, but now it works. Thank you!
Thank you so much Simon, This helped me immensely with my project!
