Windows Phone 8 Store Test Kit Error CreateEventExA

When running the Store Test Kit for Windows Phone 8 the following error is received:

[ERROR] : Native API api-ms-win-core-synch-l1-2-0.dll:CreateEventExA() is not allowed in assembly IntegrationDemo.exe.

 

Having looked through the pdb files inside \SDK\WinPhone_ARM_vc110\Release\lib there seems to be several references to CreateEventExA. According to this the solution appears to be to compile the libraries with the UNICODE preprocessor definition.
