Being able to write straight to a music segment would be everything.  Even if it's just something super-basic, like a grid with midi input, pen tool, velocities and quantization.

Hi.
I thought you might want to check out MIDIEditor -

https://www.midieditor.org/

Which is a free MIDI editor where you can create and modify MIDI messages,

save them,

and have them reflected in the Wwise authoring tool.
Also OpenMusic is a great tool for batch MIDI message generation

(you can certainly learn more about Python!)
