UE4 Solo a Wwise listener

We are working on a multiplayer UE4 game and need to be able to mute listeners in order to test spatialization and attenuation when running multiple clients locally in the same Wwise instance. We have seen this post, but that configuration does not work because of how our game server works.

A dive into the plugin code gave us some ideas of how we can do this, but that requires modifications to the plugin. That could get messy if we update our Wwise version in the future, so it is not an ideal solution for us.
