7.1 Surround monitoring on Mac

Hey all — simple question from a new-ish user here.

I am working on a project which contains a combination of mono, stereo, and 7.1 surround sound effects. I can see the Wwise 7.1 meters playing the surround content correctly. However, the audio is only reaching the RME as a stereo down-mix. See attached photos.

The interface in question is an RME Fireface 802. The computer is a 2018 Macbook Pro running 10.13 and Wwise version 2019.1.6. In the audio preferences, the "AudioSystem" option is set to "DirectSound" — if I set it to either "Detect" or "WASAPI", no sound comes out of Wwise.

I'm wondering if there is a setting or option I've missed, or if anyone else has encountered this problem.
