Unity Wwise - Event variables are being disconnected over version control

This has been happening at unpredictable intervals - a number of wwise events are being disconnected on Unity components after pulling (using Plastic), with no way to automatically fix it. Reverting to earlier Changesets doesn't fix the problem.

Would this be due to AkProjectData being checked in? we cant seem to remove that file from version control
