Example of Usage

Let's say you have an Audio Device with 16 channels on your master Audio Bus and want to output 7.1 content on the first 8 channels (1 to 8) followed by 4.0 content on the next 4 channels (9 to 12) with silence on the remaining channels (13 to 16).

  1. Add the Wwise Channel Router plug-in to your master Audio Bus. See Mixer Plug-in for how to set up a Mixer plug-in.

  2. Create a new child Audio Bus under the master Audio Bus and set its channel configuration to 7.1. Let's name it "Audio Bus 7-1".

This bus inherits the properties of the Wwise Channel Router from its parent bus.

Leave the Channel property of the Wwise Channel Router plug-in set to 1 to output starting from the first channel.

  3. Create another child Audio Bus under the master Audio Bus and set its channel configuration to 4.0. Let's name this one "Audio Bus 4-0".

For this child bus to output starting from channel 9 (into channels 9 to 13), set the Wwise Channel Router Channel property to 9.

Here is a summary of the example bus configuration:

  • Master Audio Bus (Channel Configuration: Anonymous 16 / With a Wwise Channel Router Mixer Plug-in attached)

    • Audio Bus 7-1 (Channel Configuration: 7.1 / Wwise Channel Router is automatically inherited, Set the Channel property to 1)

    • Audio Bus 4-0 (Channel Configuration: 4.0 / Wwise Channel Router is automatically inherited, Set the Channel property to 9)

The following figure illustrates how the channels will be routed according to the Channel property and the number of channels for each bus.
