The Effect Editor displays all the properties associated with the McDSP ML1 Mastering Limiter plug-in.
For a general overview of the McDSP ML1 Mastering Limiter plug-in, refer to McDSP ML1 Mastering Limiter. For more detailed information, refer to the McDSP website. Note that the Wwise implementation of the McDSP ML1 Mastering effect might differ slightly from the one discussed on their website.

The algorithm used in Audiokinetic's version of the McDSP ML1 Mastering Limiter is slightly different from the ProTools implementation. The changes were made to accommodate certain conditions where overloaded input signals (up to +12 dB) could not be handled without producing significant clipping distortion in the output. |

Inclusion

Determines whether the element is included or excluded. When selected, the element is included. When unselected, the element is not included. By default, this applies across all platforms. Use the Link indicator (to the left of the check box) to determine or to set platform-specific customizations. When this option is unselected, the property and behavior options in the Property Editor become unavailable. |

Name |
The name of the Effect instance. Effect instances are a group of effect property settings. They can be one of two types: custom instances or ShareSets. Custom instances can be used by only one object, whereas ShareSets can be shared across several objects. |

Shared by (Used by) |
A list of objects that currently subscribe to the selected ShareSet. This field is called “Used by” when editing a custom instance of the Effect. |

Opens a search field where standard alphanumeric entries filter out unmatching elements from the view. Learn more in Using Tables. Click the Close icon to the left of the search icon to close the search field and remove the filter.

Returns the Effect property settings to their default values. This option is only available when editing a custom instance of the Effect. |

Ceiling |
Specifies the maximum output signal level. Default value: 0 |

Threshold |
The signal level at which the limiter begins to detect input signal peaks. The difference between the Ceiling and the Threshold is the maximum makeup gain of the limiter. Default value: 0 |

Knee |
Specifies the limiting action transition, where 0 produces a normal, hard knee, and 100 produces a soft knee. The Knee control modifies the gain structure of the limiter in an effort to reduce the distortion while maximizing output levels. Increasing the Knee control will add a soft shape to the limiting response curve. Default value: 0 |

Release |
The rate at which the limiter recovers from reducing a signal peak. Shorter release times increase overall output signal levels. Default value: 10 |

The type of secondary detection used to create various limiting styles to suit a variety of input signals and applications. You have the following options:

(VU Meters) |
A series of meters that display the different levels of the audio signal, including input levels, output levels, and gain reduction levels applied to signal peaks. To enable the VU meters, you must click the Start Capture button in the Wwise toolbar. The VU meters only work when the ML1 effect has been applied to a bus in the Master-Mixer Hierarchy. In the case of a ShareSet, the bus must be selected in the 'Shared by' list of the Effect Editor.
