Docking/undocking views and Object Tabs

Although the default layouts have been designed to make the workflow in Wwise as efficient as possible, there might be circumstances when you want to edit the contents and positioning of the views and Object Tab Groups within a layout.

When docking a view, Object Tab, or Object Tab Group to a layout, the following docking locations are possible:

  • Any of the four sides of the layout.

  • Any of the four sides of each view in the layout.

  • When docking Object Tabs and Object Tab Groups, there is the additional possibility of docking amongst the tabs of a flat Object Tab Group.

You can move or initiate the docking of a floating view as follows:

To move a view without docking it, click an empty area on the title bar and drag.

To initiate the docking of a view, click the view's title tab and drag.

You can move or initiate the docking of a floating Object Tab Group as follows:

To move an Object Tab Group without docking it, click an empty area on the title bar and drag.

To initiate the docking of an individual tab, click any of the Object Tabs in an Object Tab Group and drag.

To initiate the docking of an Object Tab Group as a whole, click the icon and drag.

After you have initiated the docking of a floating view, Object Tab, or Object Tab Group, as you drag it around a layout, possible docking locations are highlighted in orange. The extent of the orange region indicates the area that would be taken by the view if it were docked.

In the following image, a floating Meter view is dragged towards the left edge of the flat Project Explorer view. The left edge of the flat view is highlighted as the potential docking location. The orange region indicates the area that would be taken by the Meter view if the mouse button were released.

In the next image, the Meter view is dragged a little further to the left. In this case, the left edge of the layout is highlighted as the potential docking location. The orange region indicates that the Meter view would expand to fill the vertical extent of the layout and half of its width if the mouse button were released.

When dragging either a single floating Object Tab or a floating Object Tab Group over a flat Object Tab Group, orange highlighting indicates the additional possibility of docking the floating tab(s) amongst the flat tab(s).

To dock a floating view within a layout:

  1. Click the view's title tab and start dragging the view.

  2. Drag the floating view over the area where you want the view to be docked within the layout.

The area is highlighted in orange.

  3. Release the mouse button.

The floating view becomes a flat view within the layout in the specified location.

  4. You can now resize the flat views to get the exact layout you want.

To undock a view from a layout:

  1. Click the title bar of the view you want to undock from the layout and then start dragging the view.

  2. Drag the view anywhere within the layout making sure that no area is highlighted in orange.

    [Note]Note

If an area is highlighted in orange, the view will be docked in that location instead of being undocked.

  3. Release the mouse button.

The flat view becomes a floating view. Its title bar now has a shortened title tab.

To move a floating view without docking it:

  1. Click the view's title bar on either side of the title tab.

  2. Drag the floating view to the desired location and release the mouse button.
