Source Plug-in Editor - Wwise Tone Generator Plug-in

The Source Plug-in Editor displays all the properties associated with the Wwise Tone Generator plug-in. You can create different audio tones and motion effects by modifying the various property values.

[Tip] Tip

To avoid clicks that may occur when transitioning between pure tones created by the Tone Generator and other one-shot, unlooped sounds, use a fade in and fade out of 5ms.

Interface Element

Description

Name

The user-defined name given to this instance of the Wwise Tone Generator plug-in.

Source Plugin

The type of source plug-in.

Notes

Any additional information about the Wwise Tone Generator plug-in.

Frequency

Frequency

The frequency of the tone.

Audio:

Default value: 1000
Slider range: 20 to 12,000
Units: Hz

Motion:

Default value: 5
Slider range: 0 to 200
Units: Hz

If a sweep frequency is applied, this value is the starting frequency for the tone.

Rand. Min

An offset from the Frequency value that defines the minimum possible frequency of the tone.

Since you can't apply a modifier to the frequency of a plug-in, the Rand Min and Rand Max properties act as randomizers in specifying the minimum and maximum offset values for the Wwise Tone Generator plug-in.

Rand. Max

An offset from the Frequency value that defines the maximum possible frequency of the tone.

Sweep Frequency

Enables controls that allow you to change the frequency of the tone from start to finish.

Stop frequency

The frequency at which the tone will stop.

Default value: 1000
Slider Range: 20 to 12,000
Units: Hz

Rand. Min

An offset from the Stop Frequency value that defines the minimum possible value for the tone's Stop Frequency.

Rand. Max

An offset from the Stop Frequency value that defines the maximum possible value of the tone's Stop Frequency.

Interpolation

Linear

The interpolation from start frequency to stop frequency is linear.

Logarithmic

The interpolation from start frequency to stop frequency is logarithmic.

Waveform

Type

The type of waveform or noise used to create the tone.

The following waveforms are available:

  • Sine

  • Triangular

  • Square

  • Sawtooth

  • White Noise

  • Pink Noise

Gain

The level or amplitude of the tone's output.

Default value: -12
Slider Range: -96.3 to 0
Units: dB

Duration

Fixed duration

Duration of the tone where the amplitude is constant over time.

Default value: 1
Slider range: 0.001 to 10
Input Range: 0.001 to 3,600
Units: Seconds

Envelope

Enables ADSR amplitude envelope controls.

If all ADSR controls are set to 0, nothing will play.

Attack

The time it takes for the sound to reach its maximum amplitude.

Default value: 0
Slider range: 0 to 10
Input Range: 0 to 3,600
Units: Seconds

Decay

The time it takes for the amplitude of the sound to drop down to the Sustain level.

Default value: 0
Slider range: 0 to 10
Input Range: 0 to 3,600
Units: Seconds

Sustain

The amount of time the tone remains at the Sustain level.

Default value: 1
Slider range: 0 to 10
Input Range: 0 to 3,600
Units: Seconds

Sustain level

The level where the amplitude of the sound is constant.

Default value: -12
Slider Range: -96.3 to 0
Units: dB

Release

The time it takes for the amplitude of the sound to drop from the Sustain level to silence.

Default value: 0
Slider range: 0 to 10
Input Range: 0 to 3,600
Units: Seconds
