UE4 Ambient Sound and walls

0 votes
I am trying to have a sound continuously play and have the game know if the player is behind a wall. Currently if you go behind an object it will completely turn off the sound. Is there anyway to tell if a sound is going through an object in the game? If so put a filter or something on it? Is it possible to do this without using a state or an RTPC?

You got farther than I have been able to. Would you mind sharing the steps you dud to get occlusion working? I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks!

Hi Rob

In the project settings, you are able to control the obstruction/occlusion curves. If they're set to go all the way to -inf, then any obstruction will effectively mute the sound. Try setting the curve to reach only -12 or -18db or something, and see if that works.
