Release Notes - Wwise Unity Integration 2021.1.0.7575.2069

This release delivers the Wwise SDK update for Wwise 2021.1.0.

Compatibility:

  • Wwise SDK: 2021.1.0
  • Unity: Unity 2017.4, 2018.1, 2018.2, 2018.3, 2018.4, 2019.1, 2019.2, 2019.3, 2019.4, 2020.1 (Personal or Pro).
    Note:Important note: This integration does not support Unity 4. Compatibility with Unity versions not listed above is not guaranteed.

New Features

  • WG-34342 The Wwise Picker window now uses WAAPI when available.
  • WG-43009 Added the Wwise Addressables package to support loading Wwise assets with the Unity Addressables system.
  • WG-48935 Added the ability to change the color of attenuation spheres displayed in the Editor view.
  • WG-49016 Updated the Wwise Picker to use the Unity TreeView backend.

API Changes

  • WG-48127 The bus metering callback function AkBusMeteringCallbackFunc has a new signature and receives the structure AkBusMeteringCallbackInfo, which carries an optional cookie that games can now pass via AK::SoundEngine::RegisterBusMeteringCallback. Similarly, AK::SoundEngine::RegisterBusVolumeCallback() now accepts a cookie which is properly passed to AkBusCallbackFunc by the AkSpeakerVolumeMatrixCallbackInfo structure.
  • WG-50742 Renamed parameters in Spatial Audio mentioning "occlusion" to use "transmission loss" instead.

Behavior Changes

  • WG-47929 The layout of the source has changed to better split the integration into future Unity packages.
  • WG-48326 Callback data structure memory can now be monitored in the Authoring tool.
  • WG-52040 Using custom platform names now requires registering to a delegate. See Using Wwise Custom Platforms in Unity for more information.

Miscellaneous Changes

  • WG-52025 Added a button to add an AkRoomAwareObject component on game objects with the AkGameObj component.
  • WG-52182 Increased the default monitor queue pool size.

Bug Fixes

  • WG-48587 Fixed: Hierarchies of empty Work Units don't appear correctly in the Wwise Picker.
  • WG-48929 Fixed: Visibility of the attenuation sphere is poor in the editor view.

Fixes for Community-Reported Bugs

  • WG-52936 Fixed: Playback issues by scrubbing in Timelines.
