Wwise Unreal Integration Documentation
Release Notes 2021.1.12.7973.2505

Each version of this integration matches a specific build of Unreal Engine. Here is what has changed in the 2021.1.12.7973.2505 release of the integration (in addition to upgrading to the new Unreal build).

Note:
This integration does not support experimental Unreal Engine features.
Note:
This integration was compiled against Unreal Engine versions 4.26, 4.27, 5.0, and 5.1. It was tested against Unreal Engine 4.27.2 and 5.1.1. Any major Unreal Engine version more recent than the aforementioned is not currently supported, but will be in a subsequent patch release.

New Features

  • WG-62790 Added official support for Unreal Engine 5.1.
  • WG-63770 Added uMaxSystemAudioObjects to the Advanced Initialization Settings based on new functionality provided by the Wwise SDK.

Behavior Changes

  • WG-63047 Fixed: Deprecation warnings in the Integration when using it with Unreal Engine 5.1.

Miscellaneous Changes

  • WG-63832 It's no longer necessary to install the Wwise SDK for macOS to integrate Wwise into an Unreal Project on Windows.

Bug Fixes

  • WG-63448 Fixed: External source media can enter a state where they cannot be unloaded.
  • WG-63731 Fixed: Crash in async PostEvent functions if the level is unloaded while localized media is being loaded.
  • WG-63884 Fixed: Setting StopWhenAttachedToDestroyed to true on the PostEventAsync blueprint would not stop the event when the world is unloaded.

Fixes for Community-Reported Bugs

  • WG-60362 Fixed: Some operations in the FAkUnrealIOHook are not thread-safe due to dependencies on unreliable UObject references.
  • WG-60972 Fixed: (Spatial Audio) Panning issues while moving across portals.
  • WG-62961 Fixed: Sound from Wwise is quieter on some devices' speakers than others. A new platform option has been added to disable low-latency audio playback on these devices.
  • WG-63417 Fixed: Performance issues when streaming Spatial Audio Geometry and Portals.
  • WG-63483 Fixed: AutoDestroy option on SpawnAkComponentAtLocation does not destroy the component.
