Hi,

I have un event which play a looping random container, then after a delay, stop the container with a fade out. But the event just stop the sound after a while without take into account the fade out time.

"Fade out time" option in the Stop action in an Event doesn't seems to work when applying to a Random or Sequence container. It works fine with a single Sound SFX looping. I guess it is the transition between sounds within a container that breaks the fade out.

Is this normal ? Is this a known issue ? Is there a way to make this works ? The Wwise version is 2016.2.0.5972 and the problem remains on the 2016.2.1.5995

Thanks for your time :-)

Noé

EDIT: I fin a solution in the documentation and it appears that fade out when stopping an event doesn't work with a Container with Crossfade transitions ! So it is seems normal, but it would be awesome if it was possible !

I tried to re-create the problem on my end, seems to work fine. Maybe post a screenshot of your Property Editor window to look at how you have it set up.

I post screenshots but it appears that fade out is incompatible with Xfade transitions
Thanks !
No problem, glad you found out the answer.

Hi Noé, this is indeed expected. The reason is that when stopping the container, all the crossfades scheduled in the sound engine are cancelled. This means the sound will therefore only play one last time and will finish before the end of the fade out.

There is a pretty simple workaround to that: use the " Set Voice Volume " Action instead of the fade out option. With that Action, you can set a time and a target volume, its easily replacing a fade out. Don't forget to put the voice volume back to a " normal " value after your event/fade out is done.

Hope this helps ! ( Passe le bonjour à l'ENJMIN de part ;) )
