How to stop a stinger

Is it possible to stop a stinger ?

From the test I made in the soundcaster, it doesn't seem to work.

Is it because I need a game object ?

It's currently not possible.  Once a stinger has been triggered, it's can't be stopped.

A workaround you could do however would be to dynamically change the volume of the segment playing as a stinger.  For that you can use the following mechanisms:

  • Set Voice Volume = -200 event action on the segment playing as a stinger
  • Using States modifying the voice volume on the segment playing as a stinger
  • Using RTPC modifying the voice volume on the segment playing as a stinger

Can we please make stopping a stinger a feature request? Quite often if you have a stinger/overlay playing on top of a music cue and that cue is ended for a reason, you may want to stop the stinger as well. Thanks!

Recently,

I found a way to stop a stinger in disguise by creating a music clip containing only individual midi notes as a stinger,

and in the midi bar of the property editor,

setting the midi play target to a piece of content in the actor-mixer (i.e. the content you originally wanted to play as a stinger),

so that the content you want to play can jump out of the interactive music hierarchy and be interrupted by the stop action just like normal sounds.
