Wwise Motion not working in Wwise with PS4 and PS5 controllers on PC?

+1 vote

This is an updated version of the question from here: Routing Motion Source to a connected PS4 controller - Community Q&A (audiokinetic.com)

It doesn't seem as though PS4 or PS5 controllers work with Wwise Motion when testing from within Wwise on a PC. I've set up the appropriate Wwise Motion audio device and a Motion Bus/Aux to route everything.

I can SEE the levels in the bus output to the Wwise Motion audio device, but cannot feel anything in the controller. I've even gone to Audio -> Authoring Audio Preferences and specified the controller I wish to use with Wwsie Motion, but nothing has worked.

Appreciate any responses or people with similar issues :)

Some things to note:

Note for people who might try to get this working: In Authoring Audio Preferences, you must set your Motion Bus output to "WWISE_MOTION_BUS - DualSense Controller (1 User) (Haptics)"

Native DualShock and DualSense (not using XInput) is not currently supported by Wwise Motion on Windows. However, we are actively working on it and expect this feature to land in the next patch release of 2021.1.

For the full compatibility list of controller APIs for each platform, refer to the table under "Game setup": https://www.audiokinetic.com/library/edge/?source=SDK&id=integrating_elements_motion.html

Hi Samuel!

I really appreciate the response and update on when this is to be supported. I'll keep my eyes on the release pages!

In the meantime, for anyone that just wants to feel something:
I've tried this and it somewhat helps, but it's not as accurate as using sound and the DualSense controller: https://ryochan7.github.io/ds4windows-site/

Cheers!
Was this released in a patch in the end? I haven't been able to find it in the Release Notes of the latest patches - maybe I missed it?
Sorry for the late reply. The ticket number attached to this issue is WG-51390, and has been released as of 21.1.4. Some release notes are listed under the appropriate platform release notes, which require an active platform license to consult.
Should Wwise Motion work with the PS5 DualSense over Bluetooth?  With 21.1.6,  a PS5 controller rumble works fine over USB, but is not present over Bluetooth.  I have updated the DualSense firmware to the latest version.   The one thing I notice that is different is Windows 10 shows a DualSense Audio Device in addition to the Input Device when connected with USB.
